The customer, the founder of an innovative EdTech platform, hired BlockBear to run a consultancy workshop to explore how a blockchain based solution using cryptocurrencies as rewards could increase student engagement and motivation to take and complete learning courses and at the same time gamify educational content.
The challenge
The concept of Play to Earn has received a lot of attention since it generates a new economic model, where cryptocurrencies are used in video games to allow both investors and players to earn money while playing games.
The client wanted to turn the Play to Earn concept on its head, to generate a new revolutionary incentive system in education, proposing a new way of learning and getting paid for doing so.
During the workshop we needed to figure out how to put in place a sustainable token economy that would reward the students, as well as provide incentives to its investors as stakeholders, and build a governance model to decentralize the platform’s decision making over time.
The solution

We kicked off an initial consulting workshop to fully understand the scope of the project, identifying each actor within the platform and its motivations to be part of it.

We envisioned a token economy with DeFi staking rewards that would be paid out from the platform’s own treasure chest and future earnings.

We wrote a whitepaper describing the platform’s token reward system, buybacks and distribution, token holder DeFi staking and a DAO governance model that would go from centralized to decentralized, and laid out a roadmap for its execution.
